Prof. Dr. Thích Nhật Từ is a Vietnamese Buddhist monk, scholar, educator, author, and international Buddhist leader. He was born in 1969 and entered the monastic life as a novice at the age of 13, receiving full ordination in 1988 under the guidance of Most Venerable Thich Thien Hue.
He pursued higher education in India, earning his Master’s degree in Philosophy from Delhi University in 1997 and a Doctor of Philosophy (D.Phil.) from Allahabad University in 2001.
Ven. Dr. Thích Nhật Từ has authored more than 70 books in Vietnamese and English on Buddhist philosophy, applied Buddhism, and meditation, and has produced thousands of Dharma talks and media materials for public education. He is also the founder of the Buddhism Today Foundation (in 2000), which promotes Buddhist education, culture, and charitable activities.
He serves in senior academic and leadership roles including Standing Vice-Rector of Vietnam Buddhist University (Ho Chi Minh City), Standing Vice Chair of the National Department of International Buddhist Affairs (Vietnam Buddhist Sangha), Vice-Rector of the Vietnam Buddhist Research Institute, and editor-in-chief of Buddhism Today magazine and the Vietnamese Buddhist Tripitaka project.
Thích Nhật Từ is active in inter-religious dialogue, socially engaged Buddhism, and international Buddhist teaching, regularly giving public Dharma talks and participating in Buddhist events around the world to promote peace, harmony, and understanding.
