Prof. Dr. Lê Mạnh Thát (Vietnamese: Lê Mạnh Thát, dharma name Thượng tọa Thích Trí Siêu) is a prominent Vietnamese Buddhist scholar, historian, and monastic leader known for his extensive research on Vietnamese Buddhist history and culture. He was born in 1944 in Quảng Trị, Vietnam and has devoted his life to the study and teaching of Buddhism and Vietnamese history.

Dr. Lê Mạnh Thát has served as a professor and Vice-Rector of the Vietnam Buddhist University and Deputy Director of the Vietnam Buddhist Research Institute in Ho Chi Minh City, where he focuses on Buddhist studies, historical research, and the compilation of scholarly works. His work includes publishing the influential multi-volume series History of Vietnamese Buddhism, which integrates historical sources to trace the development of Buddhism alongside Vietnamese national history.

In addition to teaching and research, he has held leadership roles within Buddhist academic circles, including serving as Vice President of the International Association of Buddhist Universities (IABU). His scholarship spans Buddhist literature, historiography, and cultural analysis, making him one of Vietnam’s most respected authorities on Buddhist history.
