Most Ven. Yan Jue
Vice President
Most Venerable Yan Jue (Master Yan Jue) is a prominent Chinese Buddhist monk and national Buddhist leader. He was born in 1956 and became a Buddhist monk in 1981, dedicating his life to the study and promotion of Buddhism in China.
He currently serves as the Executive President of the China Buddhist Association, one of the highest organizational positions in Chinese Buddhism, where he helps oversee Buddhist affairs, promote inter-religious cooperation, and represent Chinese Buddhism on national and international stages. He has also been Executive Vice-President of the China Buddhist Association and has worked with interfaith organizations such as Religions for Peace.
In addition to his administrative roles, Ven. Yan Jue is the Abbot of Guangji Temple in Beijing since 2005, a historic monastery that serves as a center for Buddhist practice, cultural exchange, and public outreach in the Chinese capital.
He has received international academic recognition, including an honorary Doctorate of Buddhism and Philosophy from Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University in Thailand, reflecting his contributions to Buddhist thought and leadership.
Ven. Yan Jue participates in major global Buddhist events and engagements, such as leading Chinese Buddhist delegations at the United Nations Day of Vesak celebrations, promoting peace, compassion, and cultural dialogue worldwide.
