Ven. Dr. Phra Sophonvachirabhorn (Thai: พระโสภณวชิราภรณ์) is a Thai Buddhist monk, scholar, and university leader known for his role in Buddhist education and international relations. He serves as Vice-Rector for Foreign Affairs at Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University (MCU) in Thailand, where he oversees international programs, academic partnerships, and foreign affairs initiatives for the university’s engagement with Buddhist and academic institutions worldwide.
He is also Treasurer (or Member) in the Executive Council of the International Council for the Day of Vesak (ICDV), representing Thailand in one of the major global Buddhist observances that brings together leaders, scholars, and practitioners from many countries.
Phra Sophonvachirabhorn has a strong academic background in Buddhist studies, including traditional monastic education and advanced degrees in Buddhist disciplines. In addition to his leadership roles at MCU, he serves as Assistant Abbot or Deputy to major temples such as Wat Arun Ratchawararam Ratchawaramahavihara in Bangkok and has experience directing programs for Dhammaduta (international Buddhist missionary) training, reflecting his involvement in both educational leadership and monastic service.
